Hi Terry,
Sorry for the late reply! Learning how to edit our cooking together youtube cooking show has been very time-consuming.
I recommend taking a few pictures and contact the Instant pot official support.

Please take care & stay safe
Jacky

I’ve used it many times and love it. My issue is with the inner ring that hold the sealing ring in place. That metal ring has separated in one place that is soldered. Is it safe to use now? I haven’t had it long. Thinking I need to know how to contact the company. Any ideas? Thank you for all you share with us.

Hi Frank,

Sorry for the late reply as we have been recovering from a recent car accident.

Thank you for your question. Steam will come out from the venting knob occasionally.
When the Instant Pot detects too much pressure is building up in the pot, it will automatically release some steam from the venting knob to reduce the pressure.

Happy New Year 🙂

Hi Heather,

Congrats on your new Instant Pot and thank you for your question 🙂

Steam should not be coming out front unless 1) the lid is wet or 2) the sealing ring is not installed properly

If the Instant Pot detected the pressure is too high inside, it will release steam to lower the pressure. It doesn’t happen every time, but it is normal.

Happy New Year

VERY Intimidating just for the water test. Lol. Several things. When doing the water test I noticed some steam coming from the front ( it looked like steam when you cook on a range) which from what I’ve read is normal is that correct? Secondly, I had the knob ( very wobbly) set to sealing. I noticed about 2 mins left of a 5 min. Test, that a good amount of steam flowed from the back while the knob was still in the SEALING position. Is that normal? Then when it went to L000/keep warm I pushed cancel & then went to switch the knob from sealing to venting & of course more steam came out. I’m concerned about all that steam that came out when in the sealing position as it came out “looking” like it was in the vent position. Thanks for your help.

Hi Trish,

The sealing valve is supposed to be wobbly. It just has to be in the sealing position for the Instant Pot to seal.

Where is the steam escaping from?

Please take care
Jacky

I used this when I got it, water test no problem – perfect ribs – then did not use. Dusted off, made cauliflower soup – perfect. Next time went to make same soup – 3 x – would not switch to timer. My “sealing valve” I have tried locking it so it does not move, watched videos – turned it so its not “locked” and tight, but still pours steam – so frustrated. Once it went to timer and continued to pour steam out. Ready to throw this $200 unit away. 🙁

Hi Baillz,

Hope you had a wonderful New Year & Christmas 🙂
Thank you for your question. It sounds like the floating valve is stuck. You can poke it with a pen or chopstick and see if it will go down.

Happy New Year & please take care
Jacky

I’m doing the water test right now and I turned the knob to venting over 10 minutes ago and it’s still not unlocking and the floating valve is still raised- how long does this normally take?
