Used drumsticks, and all we had were little yellow potatoes which hold their shape better than russet, so I cut each into 6-8 chunks and they didn’t mush. Used 2 spicy & 3 mild curry squares, and should have added hot water at the end to thin it out, it was much thicker than other IP curries we’ve tried.

We make it as the recipe states but use cut up breasts more often than not. I do 5 minutes in my machine with a 10 minute natural release. We use the Vermont Curry brand curry cubes.

This Japanese Chicken Curry is music for my mouth! I made it on Wednesday for dinner last night as I was sure the extra day for the flavors to dance was worth the wait. Today’s leftover was even more magnificent!

I used two mild and two hot Golden Curry cubes and added an extra cup of water as it thickened the sauce. Superb! Winner, winner fabulous chicken for dinner!!!5 stars

“set aside the oven-safe bowl with potato chunks AND CHICKEN”…I think it means removing the oven-safe bowl with potato chunks first, then taking out all the chicken sitting in the instant pot bowl and putting them in that oven-safe bowl 🙂

You said that you put the second half of potato batch into the oven-safe bowl, but later in the recipe instruction you mention that you “set aside the oven-safe bowl with potato chunks AND CHICKEN” – so, the end made me totally lost. Am I setting aside just the bowl with potatoes? Or am I supposed to hunt for the chicken in the Instant Pot bowl to take it out before adding the curry roux cubes? Third option?..
